Expressions of interest sought - Primary and Secondary ITT roles 

Vantage North Humber Teacher Training (VNHTT) is a newly-accredited teacher training provider launching in September 2024 and this is an exciting opportunity to join our team. In collaboration with our partner school trusts across Hull and East Yorkshire, VNHTT will provide outstanding training that develops highly effective teachers.

If you would like to help develop the next generation of educators for our region, we would love to hear from you. Expressions of interest are invited from colleagues in any of our partner schools (www.vnhtt.org/about-us/our-partners) for the following sub-contracted paid roles. VNHTT will liaise with your Headteacher / CEO to agree the sub-contracting arrangements for your time and expertise, and would offer you the additional payments as set out below as well as recompense to your school. All positions are for two years in the first instance, but offer excellent opportunities for progression as VNHTT becomes established as one of the leading providers of Initial Teacher Training (ITT) in our region.

Assistant Programme Lead Primary / Assistant Programme Lead Secondary

Time commitment:
Sub-contract for 1 day per week (or equivalent) during term time
Pay to the individual: To be negotiated with the school
Recompense to school: £15,000 pa

The role: to support the Programme Lead in the planning and delivery of the highest quality ITT curriculum, mentor training, partner school coordination and liaison, monitoring and support for trainee well-being and workload, assessment of trainee progress, and recruitment for future cohorts.

Professional tutors (Primary or Secondary)

Time commitment:
Sub-contract for 0.5 -> 2 days per half term (depending on availability)
Pay to the individual: £50 / £100 per interim / full trainee review conducted
Recompense to school: £50 per hour off timetable

The role: to visit and observe trainees to check on their well-being and assess their progress as well as to quality assure the support they are receiving on placement.

Subject leads (Secondary) – Art & Design, Computing, English, Design Technology, Geography, History, Mathematics, MFL, Music, P.E., Religious Education, Science

Time commitment: Sub-contract for 3 -> 4 afternoons per term (depending on availability)
Pay to the individual: £400 per term
Recompense to school: £50 per hour off timetable

The role: To co-plan and help deliver the subject knowledge and pedagogy (SKAP) programme for your trainees in your subject.
Note: these roles are dependent on successful recruitment of trainees in that subject

These are important new leadership roles where the successful candidate will help build and shape our Primary or Secondary ITT offer, alongside the Director of ITT and Primary ITT lead or Secondary ITT Lead, and be responsible for helping deliver the highest standards in curriculum content and delivery, mentor training, partner school coordination and liaison, recruitment and selection, monitoring and support for trainee well-being and workload, and assessment of trainee progress.  

Person specification:

  • Experienced and highly effective teacher with QTS
  • Strong background in ITT and/or ECT mentoring and staff development
  • Successful experience of working in ITT with expertise in leading training an advantage
  • Experience of team leadership and/or additional responsibilities
  • Knowledge of and affinity for the development needs of trainee teachers and their mentors
  • Knowledge of the contextual factors affecting recruitment and retention of teachers
  • Thorough knowledge of DFE ITT requirements and content frameworks
  • Thorough knowledge of the ITT requirements and framework for Ofsted
  • Efficient and effective planning and deployment of resources
  • Creative, innovative and able to solve problems
  • Excellent communication skills, highly numerate and literate

We are looking for experienced teachers who can join our team of Professional tutors to visit and observe trainees to check on their well-being and assess their progress as well as to quality assure the support they are receiving on placement. Full training will be provided for the role.

Building on our existing subject knowledge and pedagogy (SKAP) programmes, and working alongside existing SKAP leaders, the successful applicants will help ensure that our subject programmes are up-to-date, evidence-based, and fit-for-purpose to prepare our secondary trainees with the subject knowledge and pedagogy they need.

Post-holders will be expected to review and quality check current provision and resources to help design and co-deliver a new subject programme which is informed by trainee need, leading subject expertise, and best practice in initial teacher education. It is important that resources and evidence of trainee progress and feedback are collected for self-evaluation purposes and external moderation/ inspection.
